Beginning: January 24, 2006. I was elated when Brian told me he would “fit in” our kitchen project. I needed a contractor who was willing to work within a very tight deadline. Bria was the only contractor, out of a long list I had considered, who I had trusted enough to start and finish a job on time. Once we broke ground, Brian orchestrated a flurry of activity every day of the 110-day project. His “hands on” approach including shoveling concrete for the foundation, scouring the country for walnut beams and helping lay sod when we were short-handed. During our remodeling and addition of a new kitchen, laundry, half-bath and porch, I also planned our son’s graduation party and our daughter’s wedding. Thanks to Brian, both celebrations were a success. Completion May 13, 2006.

As we are settling into our lovely home, my wife and I want to take a moment to personally thank you for your part in making it happen. I watched this project through various stages of construction and I realized it is not an easy job to turn an old duplex into a modern home. But believe me, the skill and pride clearly showed through in the finished product.

The recent maintenance and repair project at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion has, indeed, been one of with many special conditions, rigid scheduling requirements and unexpected additions to the scope of work. My compliments to you for providing the project with such a sensitive, knowledgeable and hardworking superintendent, Brian Christensen. Because of his efforts, an extremely difficult project has been expertly coordinated and your company is congratulated on the fine job performed.

When Laura and I decided to build a home, we understood that the choice of builder was to be critical to implementing our plans exactly as we had envisioned them. We were delighted and fortunate to encounter Brian. We chose to have him build our home after touring a home with him that he had constructed. We were struck by the quality of craftsmanship and the meticulous attention to detail. We sensed that Brian was a man of integrity and honesty, whom we could trust. We were correct.

Building a house can be a very stressful experience. It was good to work with Brian, who we could trust implicitly. He implemented our plans as we desired. He always interfaced well with our architect, Linda Phillips, and our designer, Stephen Rust. He obtained the best workers possible. He always had an excellent idea of what any alteration to the plan would cost and always had suggestions of two or three different ways to do any particular project that needed to be done.

We are delighted with the final product. A well-constructed home is a pleasure to be in and we enjoy our home in every waking moment. We credit Brian with implementing the plans and executing them to obtain our home finished as we desired it. Should you ever wish to discuss the building experience with me, do not hesitate to contact me. I am best reached at the office, which is 573-817-0810.

I can’t say enough about the outstanding experience we had building our house with Brian Christensen as our builder. He was so easy to work with and we had so much confidence in his ideas and recommendations. He responded promptly to our ever concern and continues to advise us long after the building process has been completed. Since we’ve moved in, there have been many times that Neil and I have remarked about something we really love about the house and then we’ve said, “That was Brian’s doing.”

Not only were Brian’s abilities of the very highest quality, but he also selected the very finest sub-contractors to work on our home-from the painters, to the cabinet makers, to the rock layers- no matter what the job, we had excellent materials. There’s no doubt about it- our Christensen Homes is truly a home of quality and distinction.

Christensen Homes is a class act. Brian Christensen’s strengths are customer service, unsurpassed quality of construction, utilization of the best sub-contractors in the area, and the uncanny understanding of the wants and dreams of his clients. Honesty and integrity are his hallmarks. I enthusiastically recommend Christensen Homes.

I wanted a builder who would listen to me. I needed him to be just as interested in the aesthetic details as he was about the larger, more fundamental aspects of the project.

From a creative and designed perspective, Brian was an absolute pleasure to work with. He always had ideas and innovative suggestions to help carry out our vision. He truly understands that each and every detail is of utmost importance, and he really takes pride in that.

Choosing Brian Christensen was definitely the best thing we could have done. He is a quality person who produces a quality product.

With Brian’s expertise we were able to build a truly custom home. We picked out the windows, the woodwork, the cabinets, the tiles and other flooring. Nothing we wanted was too much trouble or too out of the ordinary. We shopped all over Missouri.

I felt in complete control of the financial aspects of building our new home. I paid all the bills and therefore knew the actual cost of everything.

When we were deciding on which contractor to use, I could tell that Brian would be easy for me to work with. I had never been involved with building a house and did not want to work with someone who would try to push me around. Throughout the building process, Brian directed his questions to both Dave and me. He was always patient and concerned with any of my requests. I am very happy that we chose to work with Brian.

- Marcia Machens

I was apprehensive about building our first home because of the horror stories from friends concerning their experiences during the construction process. I can truly say that Mary and I had a very enjoyable experience with Brian’s guidance. We really wouldn’t hesitate to build another home as long as Brian would consent to worth with us again.

We were very impressed with Brian’s choice of subcontractors. From the framer to the ceramic tile installer to the stone mason, we felt that Brian provided us with the top professional in each field. By utilizing these experts, Brian was able to provide us the home of our dreams, a home that for us a source of great pride.

In my many years of experience, I have found that construction projects rarely go smoothly and pleasantly, especially in restoration work. So, when a project goes smoothly and comes to a happy conclusion as did the restoration of Tavern at Arrow Rock State Historic Site, I think it is my duty and pleasure to tell the general contractor.

Much of the credit for the smooth performance must be credited to Brian Christensen. I can honestly say he “was on the ball.” He planned ahead and intelligently solved problems before they occurred.

It is our pleasure to offer a 5-star recommendation for Brian Christensen Homes. Building a home is a huge project. Brian was recommended to us, and he followed up immediately after our first phone call. From the beginning, he instilled in us a sense of confidence and competence for the journey ahead.

Brian brought to the table not only his knowledge and experience, but also the knowledge and experience of hand-selected sub-contractors who have a reputation for excellence of their own. He understood both the “big picture,” and the smallest detail of the process. He went to great lengths to walk us through decisions, just to be sure we came out with the same vision. And Brian carefully documented these details so that in the months ahead, if we had forgotten a conversation, Brian could quickly produce a record of it.

He had an awareness of new technology, materials, and trends and could advise us on the pros and cops of implementation.

He listened carefully to us. He was in constant contact with us throughout the process, and never too busy to answer our calls.

Our house is now three years old. When we have questions (not problems- just regular home ownership issues), Brian is still quick to respond. When we began our home, Brian was our contractor. Now that we are finished, Brian is our friend.

Brian Christensen, of Christensen Custom Homes, is one of the finest, if not the finest builder in Columbia. From the first preliminary stages until completion and beyond, Brian was professional, competent, honest, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We designed our own home and I’m sure that presented some challenges for him, but he rolled with every hiccup and was essential in solving problems that arose during the building process.

Brian does not underbid in order to get a job so his bid may be higher than others, but in reality I don’t believe he is more expensive than other custom builders. He is just very honest about what things cost. He does not pad his bills or inflate costs. He was only too happy when we found less expensive materials through the internet or other sources. He uses high quality materials and the subcontractors he uses are top notch. With Brian, you definitely get what you pay for. If what you want is high quality, attention to detail and an honest, experienced and skilled general contractor who is present on the job, then Christensen Homes is for you. The whole process, from start to finish, was a pleasure because of him.

It’s been over 10 years since our home was completed and we know now more than ever that we made the right choice in a builder. We know we can call on Brian, even a decade later, if we have any problems or questions. Brian helped turn our dream home into reality. Thank you Brian!
